Today in Habs History: November 23rd Edition

 

 

1926: Rookie goaltender George Hainsworth recorded the first of his 94 career NHL shutouts, as Montreal beat the New York Americans, 2-0.

 

 

1933: Lorne Chabot recorded his second consecutive shutout (and the 56th of his career) as Montreal won 1-0 over the visiting Ottawa Senators.

 

 

1943: Canadiens players scored 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists) in a win over Boston 13-4… The 35 points in a game by the Canadiens
players set a team record.

 

1967: Ralph Backstrom scored his third career hat trick and added two assists, and Gump Worsley recorded his 31st career shutout as the Canadiens won 7-0 against the Chicago Black Hawks.

 

1968: Jean Beliveau received the 600th assist of his NHL career, and Dick Duff scored his 250th career NHL goal, in a 4-3 Canadiens' win over the Minnesota North Stars.

 

 

1978:  Jacques Lemaire scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Montreal Canadiens to an 8-4 win against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

 

 

2009: The Canadiens trade Guillaume Latendresse to the Minnesota Wild for Benoit Pouliot.
