Today in Habs History: October 14th Edition

 

1945: The Canadiens acquire Vic Lynn from the Detroit Red Wings in a cash deal.

 

 

1961:  Montreal Canadiens had their 9th straight opening game victory with a 3-1 win over the New York Rangers. Henri Richard scored twice to lead the way, and Claude Provost added a goal and two assists.

 

1988: After a one game suspension from coach Pat Burns, Claude Lemieux scored his first career hat trick and added an assist as the Canadiens won 7-3 over the New Jersey Devils.
