Today in Habs History: March 1st Edition


1919: Newsy Lalonde set a Stanley Cup playoff record with five goals in a 6-3 Canadiens' win over Ottawa.


1924: Aurel Joliat scored twice and added an assist in the Canadiens' 4-1 win over the visiting Toronto St. Pats.


1951: Doug Harvey had three assists to lead the Canadiens to a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.


1977: Steve Shutt scored his 50th goal of the season, in the Canadiens' 5-4 win over the New York Islanders.


2001: The Canadiens trade Vladimir Malakhov to the New Jersey Devils for Sheldon Souray, Josh DeWolfand a 2nd round pick (later dealt to Washington) in 2001.
