Today in Habs History: February 5th Edition

 

1950: Doug Harvey’s three assists leads the Canadiens to a 4–3 victory over the Chicago Black Hawks.

1953: Maurice Richard (1G, 1A) and Elmer Lach (2 A) each record two points ,and Gerry McNeil records his 9th shutout of the season, in the Canadiens 2-0 win over the Toronto Mpale Leafs.

1966: Jean Beliveau records tow assists to give 500 in his NHL career. The Canadiens and Red Wings duelled to a 2-2 tie,

1975: Guy Lafleur scored a goal and added three assists in Montreal’s 8-5 win over the Detroit Red Wings

1980: Richard Sevigny and Denis Herron share the shutout in the Canadiens 7-0 victory over the Minnesota North Stars. Pierre Larouche scored his 8th career hat trick, adding an assist, and Rejean Houle had four assists to lead the scoring.

2002: The Canadiens end a 15-game winless drought in New Jersey (0-13-2) with a 1-0 win over the Devils. Jose Theodore recorded the shutout. It was the Habs fist win in the Garded State since 1993.
